The Letter A

Personal Assessments:
I also did a LETTER RECOGNITION assessment with every letter of the alphabet. 
I will do this again at the end of the year and you will hopefully be able to see a lot of improvement!

We continued talking about the letter A today & the color RED.
For story time, I read "Clifford's Big Adventures" out loud and the kids pointed out all of the red items they could see. 

At home activity idea:
Play I Spy with your child, with ONLY red items!

A is for APPLES

Arts & Crafts:
Apple Stamping with Paint
Outdoor Play: 
Duck Duck Goose
Snack: APPLE slices
Music:
Pass the apples in a circle while listening to the song
"Apples & Bananas"

Balance & Coordination:
Race across the room, balancing an apple on a wooden spoon
Handwriting:
We practiced writing uppercase & lowercase A's in our journals.
Observation & Coloring:
Children drew pictures of the apples that they ate for snack in their journals.
We had a fun day talking about the letter A!

 At Home Activity Idea:
Help your child practice writing the letter A at home.
If they can't quite write on their own, draw the letter & let them trace it. Tracing is a great pre-handwriting activity.

We had a GREAT 1st day!
Everyone did great, made new friends and listened to directions.
I look forward to working more with this class, as they prepare for kindergarten!
